PARADOXICAL CREATURES
The Gucci Fall Winter 2018 fashion show was unveiled in a septic setting that resembled an operating theatre, combining both very realistic and retro-futuristic aesthetics. Inspired by ‘Cyborg Manifesto’ by D.J. Haraway, the collection by Alessandro Michele featured feather adorned gowns, initials of Major League baseball teams on pieces including a denim jumpsuit and cape and vintage-ski inspired balaclavas. A delicate mix of pop-culture, artistic and literrary references, exploding in an impressive show.
The collection is also the result of multiple collaborations. The visual and special effects creative agency Makinarium elaborated replicas of the models heads. The latter were carrying them, as well as a baby dragon and a baby cameleon that seemed almost real. The crystals that adorned the shoes braces and the GG motive on the luggage were created with the britsh brand Globe-trotter.
As multiples paintings-alike shots come to life in the ad campagn, we witness the life inside a chalet lost in the mountains where each one explores, gets bored, or amused. This promenade culminates in a grandiose and gargantuesque diner where the guests, collecters, dressed in spectactular outfits, take off the masks and rebel against social conventions.
For its Fall-Winter 2018 Collection, Gucci's shoes pop-up store will remain at the 2nd floor of Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche while loafers, sneakers, slippers, knee boots and pumps are all mixed up. From the most iconic pairs to the latest models designed by the Italian House.
