In 1830 Ernest Mauviel opened its manufacture in the Mont Saint-Michel bay in Normandy, precisely in Villedieu-Les-Poêles. Today the 7th generation of the family runs the family-owned company: Valérie Le Guern Gilbert embodies his ancestral know-how and makes sure the Norman house keeps its soul and traditions. Mauviel1830 is still producing exceptional products to suit all the needs from the kitchen to the table.

Everyday, 70 craftsmen cut, assemble, hammer, polish, stamp and shape 1300 cooking utensils altogether. And these finally get into the hands of Michelin-star chefs all over the world as well as gastronomy lovers and gourmets. Mauviel1830 owes its prosperity to a great attention to people and their needs and a limitless adaptability. This is how the Norman house is able to create the perfect product, the fruit of a careful consideration on the status and the very purpose of the utensil. Because today’s creations will become tomorrow’s legacy.

About Mauviel1830

Mauviel1830 products win unanimous support both from consumers and chefs because of their performance. All year long on a regular basis, Parisian chef Pierre Sang Boyer runs a cooking workshop at Le Bon Marché to tell and show everything about the utensils and how different recipes taste when cooked in it.

And every Wednesday afternoon of November the chef will welcome the children for a special session to introduce his passion for cooking. What product, what shape, what material, what tips for what use? All this is to be learnt.

Mauviel1830 is the one and only factory in the world to shape and use all these materials (copper, stainless steel, steel, black steel). Thanks to his unique know-how the Normand house has determined the 7 must-have utensils in a kitchen: the Essentials. Pan, non-stick pan, cocotte, saucepan, stockpot, steamer insert when used correctly are definitely daily cooking allies.

The Norman company takes great care of the French gastronomic legacy. And in order to preserve it, Mauviel1830 puts together ancestral know-how and tomorrow’s innovations, always standing by its DNA. It took a new step towards design when becoming partners with the Evolution brand, giving birth to a new ultra-modern line of premium kitchen tools.
