Over the course of almost two months, you can experience third millennium shopping thanks to the "Geek mais Chic" exhibition at Le Bon Marché! Devoted to technological innovation, the event showcases more than 80 international brands and promises to deliver unique experiences.
Tired of identikit fragrances, Maxime Garcia-Janin created Sillages Paris, a brand offering fully customisable fragrances thanks to an algorithm able to find the perfect blend of scents for each and everyone.
No longer will you have to run the risk of wearing the same fragrance as somebody else !

Who is behind Sillages Paris ?


My name is Maxime Garcia-Janin, I’m 28 years old and worked in fragrance development for Dior and Armani before I decided to start my own brand, Sillages Paris, to bring fragrance into the 21st century !

What is the concept behind Sillages Paris ?


We're creating Haute Parfumerie 3.0 ! Thanks to SillagesParis, our customers can create their own personalised fragrance on our website by selecting their own ingredients from the dozens of options available, including white musk, mandarin, jasmine, patchouli, cedar wood and basil.
Our algorithm only recommends combinations and quantities approved by our (young) perfumers in order to ensure the finished product is perfect. We make the perfume at our factory in Paris, so our customers can expect to receive their bottle within days. If the fragrance doesn't suit them, they can return it for a full refund !

I decided to start my own brand, Sillages Paris, to bring fragrance into the 21st century !

Can you tell us how your algorithm works ?


The algorithm is the link between the customer and the perfumer; it’s like having a Nose with you when creating your fragrance, guiding you towards the best blends of ingredients, according to your preferences.
Our perfumers are continually adding new formulas and combinations of ingredients to the algorithm so as to offer our customers an ever increasing number of options and means of personalisation.

Has it transformed the role of the "Nose" ?


Definitely! At Sillages Paris, our perfumers work alongside our web developers and data scientists ! Thanks to this new expertise associated with artificial intelligence, just 3% of customers end up returning their fragrance!
It's a whole new approach to creation : our fragrances are digitally designed and customised, but produced according to the French tradition of perfumery, by hand and using the finest ingredients.

How does the creation of customisable fragrances meet modern consumer demands ?


For me, a fragrance is the ultimate signature of who you are as a person; everyone is special, so every fragrance should be special. Most fragrances are not very imaginative nowadays, for reasons of commercial necessity.
Customers are becoming increasingly tired of the overpriced, identikit fragrances that seem to crop up wherever you go. My ambition for Sillages Paris is put some soul back into perfumery by offering creative, high quality and fully customised, yet affordable fragrances.

Perfumers from Sillages Paris will be joined by Maxime Garcia-Janin in sharing the secrets of Haute Parfumerie and talking about the rarest perfume ingredients.
You’ll have the chance to create your very own fragrance and enjoy complimentary cocktails customised to your taste !
